HBCU Love

It all started with the friendship of two FAMU alum. Anthony Porter, our Kao USA. VP of Accounting & Finance called his old classmate Dr. Shawnta Friday-Stroud, Dean of the School of Business and Industries and told her we have something special that only the amazing students at FAMU could bring to life. Together we partnered for the 1st Annual Student Case Competition. Out of this competition the Wakati branding elements came to be. We are proud partners with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), the #1 Public HBCU in the Nation since 2016.

Our Mission

Our partnership with FAMU has grown and evolved over the last 4 1/2 years. We just completed our 5th annual student case competitions. Over the past 4 1/2 years we have had the pleasure of having 3 FAMU interns work directly on Wakati and have teamed up with creatives and photographer alum on countless Wakati projects. We have had brand ambassadors across 4+ HBCUs. Last, we are honored to be featured on the School of Business and Industries Big Board for our Wakati $100,000 Endowed Scholarship. We will continue our commitment to pouring in the talent and brilliance of HBCU students.
